SummaryA collection of short stories by Susanne Marie Knight.
"Homesick"--Just what is Jayna homesick for? Through a
miraculous event, Jayna overcomes her antagonism to her
new surroundings. But will she be able to reconcile her
husband to the upcoming, impossible event?
"True Love and Candy Corn"--On a Halloween outing,
thirteen-year-old Rebecca knocks on a "witch's" door. As
her treat, she is cursed with true love until the end of
time, and even though desirable Frank Palmer seems to be
the love object in question, Rebecca is thoroughly
spooked. Now, nine years later, Rebecca is treat-or-
treating again as she escorts her young cousins on their
rounds. When she comes face to face with Frank, she
doesn't see true love as a curse anymore. Will the witch's
prophecy come true?
"Happy Anniversary"--Ten years ago, Claire Newberry had
made a terrible mistake. When she returns to the
restaurant where she foolishly had broken up with her
boyfriend, will she get a second chance at love?
"Saturation Point"--If you think the light of the silvery
moon is romantic, just think what the shadow of the planet
Mars will do to one's libido!
"Grand-mère's Sainte Bleu"--After a young girl touches the
special portrait hanging in her grandmother's house, the
grandmother tells how she met her true love at a USO dance
during World War II.
"A Very Special Christmas Present"--Her only brother
killed in the Napoleonic Wars, romance is the furthest
thing from grieving Deidre's mind. However her
young "niece"--Cupid's curly-haired accomplice--is
determined to give Auntie Dee the best Christmas present
ever.
"Special of the Week"--The new restaurant in town has
delicious food. Eat at your own risk!
"Teacher's Pet"--Ever since Bill Nelson was a kid,
bully "Mac" MacDonald always bested him. Now grown, Bill
has a bit of an inferiority complex. To even the playing
field, he visits a hypnotherapist who knows just how to
handle the obnoxious Mac.
"Shades of Old Glory"--After winning a contest she doesn't
remember entering, Rebecca Sedgwick arrives at a Virginia
plantation bed and breakfast ready to relax before
starting her job search. She finds her older hosts very
congenial but Jake, the handsome handyman, is
antagonistic. That night, on the eve of the July 4th
celebration, she has a vivid dream of a Civil War battle.
As one corporal lays dying, he asks for her help. But how
can she possibly help a ghost?
"Adolescence"--Never doubt an alien fortuneteller!
Shandelle is a happy-go-lucky teenager who is preoccupied
with normal teenager concerns. But what will she do when
she learns that her perfect world will soon come to an end?
"Zeus and the Single Teacher"--A hunky new instructor, a
magic pencil, and two out-of-the-ordinary adolescent girls
create an odyssey of love for a lonely teacher.
"Friday Night"--If only she could meet Mr. Right--someone
like the new neighbor that had moved into the garden
apartment below hers. She hadn't seen much of him,
probably because their work schedules conflicted. What she
had seen, though, she instinctively liked. See how a lost
article of clothing introduces two neighbors.
"Lady Elizabeth's Excellent Adventure"--Lady Elizabeth
would rather be comfortable than go on an adventure. She
isn't given a choice however, when she takes the plunge...
literally and figuratively, and ends up in a New York
cop's hot tub. Is it possible that they can be the answer
to each other's unspoken prayers?
