There's no such thing as ghosts Or so they say.
But in #1 New York Times best-selling author Meg Cabot's
latest novel, you meet a girl who knows differently. In a
novel the BCCB calls "Buffyesque," the author of The
Princess Diaries takes a departure to the "other side."
HAUNTED is the story of a girl and her unusual,
otherworldly talents. Susannah Simon is a mediator-one who
can see dead people. Not only does Susannah have to deal
with the undead, she is also faced with all the usual teen
traumas. She's new in town, and her biggest enemy has
followed her there. Her first love—he's the ghost of a
nineteenth-century hottie. At least she has the wardrobe
thing down.
The Sixth Sense meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
HAUNTED is pure supernatural fun from a
Critically acclaimed, wildly popular author. Sure to
delight her current fans, this book is sure to welcome new
readers into the world of Meg Cabot.
Haunted is not Meg's first book about Susannah
Simon: Published under her pseudonym Jenny Carroll, the
Mediator series includes Shawdowland, Ninth Key, Reunion,
and Darkest Hour. The books have been optioned by ABC for
a network television movie, with plans for series
development.
SummaryMy name is Susannah Simon, and I am a mediator -- a liason
between the living and the dead. If you think this gets in
the way of my attempt at a normal sixteen-year-old life,
you'd be right. You try going to the mall while constantly
being accosted by the undead.
Not that this is a bad thing all the time. Like, for
example, when I discovered my bedroom is haunted by Jesse,
the ghost of a nineteenth-century hottie. While I haven't
made much progress with him (only one kiss so far), I
remain optimistic. Jesse's inexplicable resistance to my
charms is not my only obstacle, though: there's this other
guy. A live one, who has the same gift of gab with the
undead I have. In the same way I'm after Jesse, this guy is
after me. And he knows how to send Jesse to the Great
Beyond. For good.
So I guess you could say I'm haunted. I just never thought
it would be by someone who isn't dead.
