REVIEW

"SAID YES was a story that showed how love conquers all."

Evelyn Dennsworth is a shop girl saving to open her own dress shop. However, her dreams seem ill-fated when she is accused of stealing a lady's brooch. As she is being hauled away to jail, Marshall Bedford, the Marquis of Waltham, promises to see her released. Marshall's reasons aren't exactly altruistic, for he has decided that Evelyn would make a perfect mistress. Will Evelyn get released and will she be able to resist her attraction to the marquis?

HE SAID YES is an enjoyable Victorian romance with characters that seem appropriate for their time. Marshall feels that he is doing Evelyn a favor by saving her from jail. Surely, her life would be much better as his mistress, as opposed, to being a lowly shop girl. Evelyn, the daughter of a vicar, doesn't wish to go against the principles her parents instilled and fights her attraction. Even when Marshall realizes that he loves Evelyn, their love seems doomed because she is socially his inferior. HE SAID YES was a story that showed how love conquers all. I recommend it.
