"Wonderful introduction to the Reapers!"
Lord Riel Evann-Sin is sitting in an inn waiting for his
friend to show up. While waiting, a group of women come
in, Hell Hags, women warriors of the Dark Queen Lilit.
Among this group of women, is one Riel can't take his eyes
off. When the apparent leader of the group starts
trouble, Riel steps in and they end up leaving, all but
the one Riel is interested in. Her name is Tamara and she
is one of Daughters of the Night, or Hell Hags. The two
exchange a kiss and even though Riel begs her to stay,
Tamara leaves in order to fulfill her vows to her queen.
When his friend doesn't show up, Riel leaves and intends
to go find him. Imagine his surprise when he gets to an
oasis and finds himself attacked by the same group of
women he ran into at the inn, minus Tamara. Kaibyn Zafeyr is a demon. His skills are bringing
pleasure to women, which is exactly what got him into
trouble. One woman conjured him from the Abyss, but when
Kaibyn's eye, and body, roved, the woman became angered
and killed him. A magi proceeds to bring him back
to "unlife" and Kaibyn swears revenge. Queen Lilit is one of the blood. When the Hell Hags
attacked Riel, she almost took his life. The sun rising
is the only thing that saved him, since Lilit cannot stand
the sun. Of course, she has something evil planned. Riel, Tamara, Kaibyn and Rabin (also brought back from
the
dead by the magi) must work together to stop the evil
Lilit is planning. Will they be able to work together? Or will Riel and
Kaibyn kill each other when Kaibyn makes a move on
Tamara? How will they be able to stop an army of the
blood? Will Kaibyn has his vengeance? LONGING'S LEVANT is a wonderful story in which we become
introduced to Charlotte Boyett-Compo's "Reapers". I
really enjoyed learning how the Reapers came into being
and all their skills. These four very different people
must learn to work together in order to accomplish their
goals. Riel is definitely alpha, but when he meets Tamara
he begins to realize just what he will be willing to give
up to have her. But then again, as a Hell Hag, Tamara
isn't exactly a shy, meek woman either. I loved the way
Rabin took to Kaibyn's method of "traveling". And Kaibyn
never could keep his eye from roving. The characters are
all intriguing and richly portrayed, the plot is thrilling
and keeps you reading. I highly recommend LONGING'S
LEVANT to all lovers of paranormal romance.
