REVIEW

"Thrilling Suspense filled story!"

At her age, Karen Hudson never dreamed she would fall in love, get married and have children. Being a "Plain Jane", Karen pretty much accepted her lot in life. Until the first day of school when she saw him standing in the back of her third grade classroom. It turns out Michael had a daughter in her class, Jennifer. They began seeing each other. Karen couldn't have picked a better man if she had tried, and Jennifer was just the icing on the cake. On this particular day, Jennifer is a bit clingy, raising Karen's suspicions. After her day of being a teacher is over, Karen goes home and changes to have dinner with Michael and Jennifer. After dinner, Michael finally tells Karen he's in love with her and asks her to make him a promise. Michael makes Karen promise she will trust him and believe in him, regardless of what she finds out.

The next day, Jennifer isn't at school. When she doesn't hear from Michael all day, Karen decides to go by his house after school. When she gets there, she finds the house empty and everything except the furniture gone! Now she doesn't know what to think. The night before he professes his love for her and now he's gone? The next morning when she arrives at the school, the principal takes her into his office and introduces her to two men. The two men are FBI agents and are looking for Michael, or Michel Borbeau. It turns out Michel is wanted for the murder of his wife's lover! Karen can't believe this!

What does Karen do? Will she forget Michael? Or will she remember her promise to trust him? Will she try to help prove his innocence?

A PROMISE TO KEEP is a thrilling suspense-filled story, packed with non-stop action. Ann Durand has done a wonderful job of bringing her characters to life in each page of this story. Clarice Borbeau is a woman very easy to hate, not to mention, just plain wicked. And Karen finds herself in circumstances beyond her control as she attempts to find Michael and do something to help him. As she finds herself becoming more and more involved in trying to prove Michael's innocence, she is also putting herself in danger. If you enjoy romantic suspense, you have to read this one!
