"a "magical" chick lit read"

What would you do if you saw someone with fairy wings, or dwarf ears? Or what about that gargoyle that keeps appearing and disappearing on the church roof? Well Katie Chandler is starting to wonder if her job with Mimi the "monster" is really getting to her and she's about to suffer a nervous breakdown.

Katie Chandler is a Texan farm girl come to New York to make it on her own. She finds that "illusion" often outweighs real life experience in the mundane world of advertising, and that a prestigious MBA does not equate with common sense, a good work ethic, or actual real world experience. It's this dissatisfaction with her job that leads her, in desperation, to accept the email initiation for a "life changing job opportunity" with MSI Inc, Magic, Spells and Illusions, Inc.

Now this is a job where "illusion" is a reality and Katie is a highly valued commodity as a magical null. Her "talent" is in her complete and total inability to "see" or be affected by magic. Now her boss really is an "ogre" and she's working with a gorgeous, but shy wizard. Her abilities allow her to detect spells and see through illusions, allowing her to see invisible bad guys, fake books, hidden clauses and objects. It's her ordinary common sense that brings a fresh perspective to people who can just wave their hands and have things appear. Her previously "ordinary" world is now peopled with winged fairy's, frog princes, elves, gargoyles, good and evil wizards and she's in a battle to help save the world from dark spells and live happily ever after.

This is a highly entertaining read, laugh out loud funny in spots, ironic, sweet and touching. I would class it as a "magical" chick lit read. I even hope that Shanna Swendson writes more in Katie's world and would recommend it without hesitation to anyone enjoys humor and the paranormal.
